Flood Safety

Dear friends and neighbors,

We hope and pray that you and your loved ones are doing well in the face of these devastating storms and floods that we are experiencing.

I want to let you know that we here at Mario's Automotive are here to help you in any way we can.

Here are a few tips in case your vehicle was flooded.

If your vehicle was parked and it got flooded:

  1. Do not start it or try start it.
  2. Document damages by taking photos and videos from insurance purposes.
  3. If you have full coverage insurance on your vehicle contact them as soon as possible.
  4. Disconnect your battery and allow all your electronics to dry out. In most cases all the electronics should be removed for this to happen.
  5. Have all your fluids replaced before you start your vehicle to avoid further damage and more costly repairs.
  6. Remove wet floor mats and dry out the carpet as much as you can. Use a wet/dry vac if you have one.

If your vehicle was driven thru high water:

  1. If you have full coverage insurance on your vehicle contact them as soon as possible.
  2. Have all your fuids cheked and replaced as necessary.
  3. Have your brakes and wheel bearings serviced as necessary.

One more thing to keep in mind once you are back on the road.

Use common sense when filling up your gas tank.
(if you know or suspect that a particular gas station was underwater, it's probably not a good idea to fill up at that station.
